Section 1.6 Student Showcase 2025

Former students gave us permission to share some of their work. All of the following examples are also licensed CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0.

Example 1.40. Launching a Bowling Ball .gif, by Gunner Fenerty.

Example 1.41. Marble on a Lissajous curve .mp4, by Tawina Kaunda.

Note: This example was showcased with len(Z) frames, but the cloud version of sagemathcell within this textbook would time out. With n = 200 frames the marble does not run the entire curve, but should compile inside the textbook.

Example 1.42. Vector Field .mp4, by Samantha Miles.

Example 1.43. Jupiter and its Moons .gif, by Hunter Ross.

Note: This example was showcased with 600 frames, but the cloud version of sagemathcell within this textbook would time out. With frames = 100 in FuncAnimation the moons don’t complete their orbits, but should compile in the textbook.
Students found a variety of creative ways to showcase their animation skills and NumPy experience.
